Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking a Library Assistant to support reference and reader advisory services. You will assist patrons with information needs, use print and online databases, and help apply circulation policies.

Responsibilities include data entry for circulation, handling fines, shelving and assisting with collection maintenance; some lifting and moving of materials is required. Prior library or bookstore customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of college or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer service experience in a bookstore or library preferred.
• Familiarity with information sources and library systems encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and reader advisory support to patrons.
• Assist with information retrieval using print and electronic resources.
• Process circulation tasks and collect fines with cash handling.
• Shelve materials and assist with collection maintenance.
