Job summary

The National Museum of Women in the Arts invites applications for a part-time Intern in the Margaret and Peter Dzwilewski Library and Research Center. You will work with LRC staff to provide access to collections, assist at the reference desk, and perform circulation and cataloging tasks.

Position is 20 hours per week, February to May with flexible end dates. Strong organization and communication skills, as well as an interest in research tools, are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be a current student or have completed sophomore year of undergrad or two years of work experience after high school.
  • Enrollment in a library/information science graduate program is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Reference Desk by engaging visitors and answering questions in person, by email, and by phone.
  • Circulate library materials to museum staff.
  • Shelve materials and maintain library stacks.
  • Process books (barcode, label, catalog item records).
  • Create and organize artist files; assist with archival processing tasks.
  • Assist with digital asset management, scanning, and cataloging digitized collections.
  • Write blog posts highlighting new acquisitions, resources, and events.
  • Assist with planning and implementing library programming.
  • Conceptualize and draft social media posts for public outreach.
