Job summary

The Hutchinson Public Library in Hutchinson, KS is seeking a non-exempt Public Services Assistant. Under supervision, you will perform a variety of tasks to support daily library operations and assist patrons with services and resources.

Responsibilities include circulation duties, patron assistance, program support, and materials shelving. Evening and weekend work is required, and a Kansas driver's license is expected. This role is fully onsite with occasional outreach activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; an associate degree is preferred.
• Proficiency with computers required.
• Evening and weekend work required.
• Kansas driver’s license.
• Ability to perform the essential physical and mental requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Register library cards, check in and out materials, and update patron accounts.
• Process interlibrary loans for patron pick up.
• Assist patrons with computer lab queries and library services.
• Help patrons with print stations, photocopier, fax, and other equipment.
• Assist with shelving, shelf-reading, and material organization.
• Support outreach materials delivery and community programs.
• Assist with Readers’ advisory and collection development as needed.
• May assist other departments as required.
