Job summary

This role oversees signature events like GenreCon and LitUP, manages budgeting, staffing, partnerships, and analytics to maximize community engagement, with a schedule including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library and information science (ALA-accredited).
• 3 years public library programming and event experience required.
• 3 years management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a diverse calendar of programs and events for 34 branches.
• Develop and execute MCPL’s signature events such as GenreCon and LitUP.
• Identify trends and community needs to ensure relevant programs.
• Procure engaging presenters and performers for events.
• Coordinate budgeting, marketing, scheduling, and vendor relations.
• Maintain the library's Event System with Library Systems Department.
• Foster collaboration across departments for successful programs.
• Assess program effectiveness using surveys and attendance data.
• Supervise day-to-day operations of programming and events team.
• Administer the program and signature events budget.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff dedicated to programming.
