Job summary

The City of LUFKIN is seeking an Assistant Library Manager to assist the Library Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating library programs and services. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a commitment to innovative community library services.

Qualifications include an MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program (or to obtain within two years), at least 4 years of progressive library experience, and a valid Driver's License Class C.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program or eligible to obtain within two years of hire.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible library experience.
• Public library experience preferred and supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License Class C at time of placement.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Library Manager on strategic plans, goals, and department objectives.
• Assist in development and management of the library budget.
• Assign, train, and supervise library staff.
• Oversee genealogy and outreach services.
• Co-administer ILS and library technologies with Library Manager.
• Oversee the library's Facebook page and assist with marketing and PR.
• Assist in evaluating library services.
• Stay informed on emerging trends and best practices in library science.
• Recruit, select, train, and develop library staff.
• Coordinate with outside agencies, boards, and committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
