Qualifications

• Certification as set by state certification authorities.
• Ability to effectively deal with students and staff.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong knowledge of word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, the internet, and reporting and presentation software.
• Knows how to keep abreast of changes in policy, standards, procedures, and regulations pertinent to job functions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, selects and requisitions new library materials to meet the curricula and personal needs of patrons.
• Evaluates and maintains a current collection of high quality materials to meet the curricula and personal needs of patrons.
• Contributes to the appropriate use of media to facilitate meeting curriculum goals.
• Provides for effective storage and retrieval of material and equipment.
• Informs teachers and staff about the library program and new materials.
• Provides materials and instruction in the use of library resources in classroom instruction.
• Plans library promotions to promote library use and literature appreciation.
• Helps students develop independent reference skills and the use of reference materials.
