San Jose/Evergreen Community College District invites applications for a Library Assistant at San Jose City College. The work schedule is 12 months per year, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., reporting to the Dean of Instruction (Language Arts).

The role involves assisting in library materials purchasing, budget tracking, and coordination with library staff to ensure efficient services and accuracy of records and reports.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school with library tech coursework.
• Four years of paraprofessional library experience.
• Experience in technical and circulation services and secretarial tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage acquisition, processing, and distribution of library materials.
• Oversee ordering and processing of library materials.
• Coordinate with library staff for coordinated services.
• Prepare purchase orders with vendors.
• Communicate with publishers and suppliers on shipping.
• Respond to inquiries from faculty, students, and staff.
• Monitor budget and grant accounts.
• Maintain records of library operations and inventory.
• Assist with payroll/budget paperwork.
