Job summary

Calumet City Public Library is seeking a full-time Custodian to clean the library building and grounds and perform general maintenance. The role includes dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and restocking supplies, along with light maintenance and setup for events.

The position requires physical stamina, ability to lift and bend, and proficiency in English. Prior custodial or building maintenance experience is preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to work independently.
• Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; custodial/building maintenance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Dust, mop, vacuum, clean restrooms, and restock supplies.
• Perform general maintenance and basic preventive tasks.
• Move and arrange furniture for programs and events as needed.
• Handle snow removal and outdoor care as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of facilities and grounds daily.
