Job summary

Riverside County Library System is seeking a Library Advisor to serve as a system-wide consultant, implementation leader, and professional resource. The role provides coaching, training, and support to branches while aligning with executive priorities and best practices.

You will collaborate with executive leadership, branch managers, and partners to strengthen organizational effectiveness and operational excellence through facilitation, problem-solving, and ongoing professional expertise.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
• Significant public library experience in operations, programming, collections, and customer service.
• Experience coaching managers, training staff, leading projects, or implementing operational improvements preferred.
• Strong facilitation, communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate without supervisory authority.
• Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing organizational needs.
• Proficiency with integrated library systems, Microsoft Office, LibraryIQ or comparable reporting tools.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout Riverside County.

Responsibilities

• Provides support and consultation to Branch Managers on library operations, programming, collections, customer service, and community engagement.
• Supports implementation of executive priorities and organizational initiatives; translates priorities into measurable local actions.
• Coordinates orientation, onboarding, and professional development for management staff; facilitates leadership forums and workshops.
• Analyzes operational trends using tools like LibraryIQ and other approved systems to recommend improvements.
• Partners with departments across the library to promote collaboration, programming, and community engagement.
• Assists in leadership needs during vacancies or major organizational initiatives and ensures executive direction is followed.
