Job summary

The Falmouth Public Library seeks an experienced Library Director to lead the Main Library and branches, align operations with the Board and Town Manager, and guide staff in delivering excellent public service across departments.

Ideal candidate combines MLS credentials with 5+ years in public library administration, strong communication, and a collaborative leadership style guiding organizational growth and change.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program is required.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible public library administration, including supervisory experience.
• Eligible for MBLC Professional Certificate of Librarianship.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for all library resources, programs, services, facilities, finances and staff.
• Oversee annual and capital budgeting, procurement, and financial management.
• Manage personnel development, facilities planning, and strategic long-range planning.
• Oversee collection development and community engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Trustees, Town officials, partners, and staff to support service excellence.
