Job summary

The Claysburg Area Public Library is seeking a Library Director to lead operations in a 35-hour work week serving Claysburg, East Freedom, and parts of Bedford County. The role requires strategic planning, budget oversight, community outreach, and staff supervision within the Blair County Library System framework.

Minimum qualifications include library science credits or related experience, background checks, and demonstrated leadership in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Two academic years of college with at least nine credits in Library Science OR two academic years with no library science credits plus nine library science credits.
• Experience in a library system or relevant public service is preferred.
• FBI and PA Criminal Background Checks and PA Child Abuse History Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and/or perform all routine daily tasks associated with running the library.
• Administer the library within the framework of goals, policies, and budget.
• Manage personnel, budget, payroll, benefits, collection development, and building maintenance.
• Coordinate and create community programs to increase library awareness.
• Promote library services via outreach and presentations to community groups.
• Plan and advertise monthly library programs for children, families, and adults.
• Supervise library staff and participate in fundraising activities as needed.
• Attend Board and District meetings and prepare monthly and annual reports.
