Library Assistant @ New Jersey State Library

This entry level, non-professional and union represented Library Assistant position provides opportunity to grow within the New Jersey State Library. We are looking for someone who has excellent organizational skills, who is detail-oriented, and who can use library software systems as well as Microsoft products.

Here are some examples of the type of work you will do:

• Shelve books, file microfilm, create and maintain paper files
• Retrieve books from various areas of the library for patrons and librarians
• Update titles with loose-leaf supplements and pocket parts
• Keep records related to use of in-house materials
• Digitize print and microfilm resources
• Shift collections

There are physical demands with this position. You must be able to lift 30 pounds and be able to push or pull book carts weighing 40 pounds. You’ll need to be able to reach up and bend down to retrieve and return library materials to shelves.

“Good Faith” Salary, Range, or Rate of Pay

Salary Range:$41,070.22 To $56,480.81 Annually
