Job summary

Pasco County BOCC is seeking a Library Assistant to support paraprofessional library work across service areas including public services, interlibrary loan, youth services, and circulation.

Responsibilities include answering calls, assisting the public, operating the automated circulation desk, and conducting bibliographic research and processing. Lifting up to 35 lbs and occasional evenings/weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• One year of experience in customer service duties involving frequent contact with the public or vendors as well as performing clerical duties.
• Experience in the operation of a personal computer and related software required.
• Experience in libraries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls and direct them accordingly.
• Assist citizens with in-person inquiries and resolve questions and problems.
• Maintain and operate the branch automated circulation desk and related procedures.
• Provide reference, programming, outreach, and public services under a librarian.
• Shelve books, perform bibliographic processing, and file circulation reports.
