Job summary

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is seeking a Library Access Services Assistant to support public and access services, including circulation, shelving, and patron assistance. The role requires regular night, weekend, and holiday shifts and physical movement, lifting up to 50 pounds.

You will interact with staff, researchers, and visitors, maintain clean public spaces, and help manage lines during peak periods. A high school diploma and 1–2 years in library/museum settings are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of library, archives, or museum experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with diverse patrons.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient with MS Office and library databases.
• Capable of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide patron services to staff, researchers, and visitors, including circulation tasks.
• Gather and shelve books, arrange displays, and keep areas ready for use.
• Shelve and locate materials using LC and Dewey classifications.
• Maintain physical library spaces, tidy public and staff areas.
• Move boxes and assist with shipments, stairs, and heavy items as needed.
• Open and close the library and monitor visitor flow during peak times.
