Job summary

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is seeking a Retail Associate to deliver an elevated guest-centered experience in a thoughtfully curated retail environment. You will combine exceptional customer service with sales support, guiding purchases and storytelling that reflect the museum’s mission.

This role requires morning availability and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Strong emphasis on merchandising and POS accuracy with a boutique, brand-aligned presentation.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing and/or sales experience in premium retail, hospitality, cultural, or service-oriented environments.
• Experience within an arts and cultural organization or high-volume setting with elevated guest service standards.
• Demonstrated ability to drive sales through thoughtful product recommendations and relationship-building.
• Understanding of retail operations, including inventory management, quality assurance, and RFID inventory systems.
• Proficiency in POS systems; experience with Shopify or Square is a plus.
• Experience with cash handling procedures and compliance.
• Strong attention to detail with visually compelling merchandising displays.
• Exceptional communication with a polished, professional presence.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special museum programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact delivering a welcoming, attentive, personalized retail experience.
• Engage guests with product knowledge linking merchandise to exhibitions and cultural narratives.
• Operate POS systems with accuracy for smooth transactions.
• Uphold high merchandising standards with aesthetically balanced displays.
• Support pricing, packaging, and inventory accuracy with attention to detail.
• Respond to guest inquiries with professionalism and thoughtful solutions.
• Collaborate with team to achieve sales goals while maintaining an elevated guest experience.
• Support opening and closing procedures, maintaining a polished retail space.
