The Public Library of Brookline is seeking a highly skilled, motivated and patron-focused Librarian to join our team in the Collection Services department at the Public Library of Brookline. This position involves performing administrative, direct service, and professional work in classifying, cataloging, and processing print and non-print materials for the library. The Librarian II – Collection Services will be responsible for processing and maintaining the Library’s “Library of Things” collection.
The Librarian II - Collection Services performs a wide variety of tasks which may include but not be limited to:
Master's of Library and Information Science degree, supplemented by additional training in library technology, and two -three years of experience in library operations is required. Familiarity with Dewey classification, AACR, Resource Description and Access (RDA), descriptive cataloging practices, authority control, and serial control. Knowledge of foreign languages in Spanish, Chinese, or Russian is highly desired. Familiarity with Dewey classification, OCLC MARC records. Must have excellent communication skills.
