Job summary

The Houston Public Library is seeking an energetic Librarian I for the Central Library who delivers excellent customer service and helps patrons locate information and materials. You will assist with technology needs, including troubleshooting and one-on-one sessions, and support library operations and community programs.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential; bilingual Spanish preferred. The role may involve Passport Services support and other duties as assigned in a dynamic urban

Qualifications

• MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• No experience required, but relevant library exposure preferred.
• Bachelor's degree plus 18 hours toward MLS and one year library experience with reference and programming.
• MLS must be completed within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer assistance to locate information and library materials.
• Assist with technology, troubleshoot devices, and offer one-on-one sessions.
• Support library operations, including schedules and statistics.
• Serve as back-up for Passport Services.
• Promote library services and programs within the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
