Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 5 PM (40 hours / week)
Works twelve (12) Saturdays per year – one Saturday each month
Works one (1) evening per week
Job Summary
The Children’s Librarian co-develops, manages and implements operations, procedures, collections, programs and public service goals for youth and family patrons at Bentonville Public Library, with an emphasis on those for grades 4th – 6th.
The Children’s Librarian supports and assists the Senior Children’s Librarian in managing 6.95 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff to meet daily operations and implement strategic goals.
The Children’s Librarian works directly with the Senior Children’s Librarian and Teen Services Librarian to develop a continuum of youth services and support the library’s teen volunteer program.
Works under the supervision of the library director and plays an integral role in the library’s professional leadership team. Must possess professional communication skills and leadership qualities. Serves as a motivated, engaged and positive mentor for library staff, with a focus on excellent customer service.
Requires the application of professional principles of library and information sciences.

Master of Science degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution is highly preferred. Other job-related undergraduate degrees or graduate-level degreed applicants may be considered, including candidates enrolled in a graduate library program; or one (1) or more years library experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
