A leading company is seeking a Librarian I to collaborate with library staff and provide services in various areas such as Public Services and Programming. This role involves maintaining a welcoming environment, enforcing safety policies, and engaging with the community. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in library services. The position requires evening and weekend shifts.
The Librarian I works in collaboration with other library staff to provide library services in one or more of the following areas: Public Services, Programming, Children’s Library, Collection Development, Cataloging, or Outreach. Librarian I staff look for opportunities to further the Library, Arts, History & CSU Extension mission to create welcoming spaces for opportunity, growth, trust and connection.
This role has a high level of responsibility and works with the supervisor and other members of their team to create goals for library services in their area of responsibility. They maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the community. While performing Person-in-Charge (PIC) duties, they enforce safety policies and the Library’s Code of Conduct.

Meets Library equity and diversity goals in assigned area.
Responds to requests in a timely manner.
Employs independent judgment while acting as PIC and interacting with patrons when there is more than one possible solution.
Reports statistics for assigned area.
Schedules, trains and supervises volunteer support for their assigned area.
Works on a reference desk to answer questions and provide reference and reader’s advisory services to connect patrons to community and library resources, including books and digital formats.
Maintains confidentiality of all patron data and information.
Stays up-to-date with current research and practices through professional development opportunities and professional librarian memberships to assess new needs in library services.
Ensures marketing for activities in their assigned area.
Meets with community members and maintains partnerships as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university- required
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university- preferred
Experience–
1 yearexperience required in a library setting or another related field.
Division area experience - required
Cataloging
One year demonstrated experience or coursework in cataloging.
Collections
One year library work experience; MLIS preferred
Children's
One year demonstrated experience working with children and their families or caregivers in a library setting or another related field that involves program planning and implementation
Teen and Adult Programming
One year formal or informal experience developing and leading programs and community engagement efforts for teens and/or adults in a public library setting or related field.
Public Services
One year library experience or another related field.
Outreach
One year of experience as an outreach librarian or working to establish and maintain community connections in a related field
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.

Work may be scheduled Monday through Sunday, including some holiday and evening hours. Regular, reliable attendance is required.
Work is performed in City/County work locations with the ability to perform some duties remotely as approved by the supervisor and Department Head.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, lift and move objects.
The employee must be able to move around the library in order to perform routine tasks: helping patrons locate library materials, conduct programs and attend meetings.
Physical demands are light and employees must sometimes push and lift items up to 10 lbs. to maintain safety and remove obstructions for staff and community accessibility.
Employees perform basic tasks and routinely work on computers and other electronic devices with software designated to complete work.
On-site attendance is required for most duties, including public interactions, community engagement and training activities.
This position may be eligible to work from home up to 1 day x week with the approval of their supervisor.
