Job summary

The City of Saratoga Springs seeks a Librarian to support the Library Director and assist customers with questions about materials, services, and programming. Responsibilities include circulation duties, research assistance, and technology support at the service desk, with supervision of clerks when the Director is absent.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree and five years in libraries with strong customer service, plus knowledge of cataloging, reference and Koha ILS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Education, Business Administration or similar field.
• Five years' experience in libraries with emphasis on customer service.
• Strong knowledge of library reference, circulation, cataloging and classification methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform circulation duties: check in/out materials, assist customers at the service desk.
• Provide reference and research assistance in person, by phone, and online.
• Catalog and classify materials; maintain current collection.
• Assist with technology needs: public computers, Wi‑Fi, and self-check units.
• Supervise Library Clerks in the Director's absence; answer questions.
• Coordinate programs and services for children, adults and teens.
• Prepare and present library programs; supervise volunteers.
• Attend professional meetings and trainings as required.
