Introduction

Are you passionate about building community through engaging library programs? Haymarket Gainesville Library is excited to welcome an organized, motivated, and community-focused individual to join our Adult Services team as a full-time Librarian.

In this role, you’ll take the lead in coordinating adult programming, designing and delivering events that reflect the interests and needs of our diverse and vibrant community. About This Role

  • Plans and implement engaging and community-oriented programs for adults. Includes keeping track of budgets, coordinating program schedules, and working with outside vendors.
  • Assists patrons with library services, including reference inquiries, circulation tasks, and reader’s advisory.
  • Promotes library services and resources both in the branch and at outreach events.
  • Assists patrons with basic technology, including (but not limited to) public computers, personal computers, personal devices, email and internet help, copying, scanning, and printing assistance, use of library hotspots and other library issued technology.
  • Maintains an assigned section of the adult collection, evaluating items for weeding and rebalancing according to system policy.
  • May serve as a passport agent if eligible.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Library or Information Science.

Preferences

  • Experience working in a public library setting
  • Experience in the development and planning of programs for all ages
  • Experience preparing and managing budgets
  • Experience with collection maintenance practices, including weeding and rebalancing a floating collection
  • Experience providing technological assistance to patrons, including support with public and personal computers, mobile devices, email, internet navigation, copying, scanning and printing
  • Experience in assisting patrons in accessing and using library digital resources.

Special Requirements: The position requires travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.

Work Schedule

This is a full time, exempt position located at the Haymarket Gainesville Library. Library hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday, 10:00am-8:00pm, and Thursday-Saturday, 10:00am-5:00pm. The schedule will include days, one evening per week, and rotating Saturdays. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the library.

Starting Salary Range: $65,910.00 - $79,408.88 / yearly

This is a full time, 37(.5) hours a week, exempt position. The schedule includes days, at least one evening a week and rotating weekends. Work hours are generally Monday through Wednesday 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Thursday through Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Sundays (1)(1):00 pm to 5:00pm.
