The City of Anaheim Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Librarian to provide innovative public service in a team-oriented library system at our Haskett Branch and Ponderosa Joint-Use Library. The Librarian works under minimal supervision to perform journey level professional library duties in assigned areas, focusing on developing and sustaining programming with partner agencies and nonprofits, and supporting adult, teen, or children’s services as needed. The Librarian will assist in coordinating and creating community programs that increase library awareness. The ideal candidate will have prior public library and outreach experience. Bilingual skills highly desirable (Spanish or Arabic).
Qualifications: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Library Science (MLS), or Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) degree from an accredited college or university; one (1) year of experience as a professional librarian.
Schedule: Candidates must be available for a varied weekly schedule, including evening and weekend hours. The main location is the Haskett and Ponderosa Library Branch, but travel to other branches may be required.
Distinguishing Characteristics: This is an intermediate-level class within the professional Librarian series. Responsibilities include developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing library services and programs, assisting in evaluation and acquisition of library materials, and serving as "Librarian-in-Charge" in the absence of senior staff. Incumbents work independently, exercise judgment, and are distinguished from senior librarians by the level of independence and decision-making authority.

Qualifications can be met through a combination of training and experience, typically including:
Education and Experience: MLIS, MLS, or MSLS degree from an accredited institution; one year of professional librarian experience.
Knowledge: Principles of effective grant writing, basic budgeting, supervision, core library operations, cataloging, community outreach, bibliographic research, and current developments in library science.
Ability: Manage budgets, perform professional library tasks, supervise staff and volunteers, conduct research, operate technology, communicate effectively, and foster positive relationships.
Environment/Working Conditions: Work is performed in a library environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature, and no exposure to hazardous substances. Physical requirements include mobility, vision, hearing, speech, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
