*This range represents a national range and the actual salary will depend on several factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the skills, education, training, credentials, location, and experience of an applicant, as well as level of role for which the successful candidate is hired.Position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.

This position will be posted until April 18th, 2025 and candidates will be notified of the next steps in the interviewing process in May 2025. The target start date for the training program is August 4th, 2025.

  • The trainee position is in-office but upon successful completion of the training program, the candidate will be a remote/work from home Liability Adjuster.

  • The successful candidate will be required to live within close proximity to the RoanokeClaims Office.

How the program works:
  • The 12-week training program will require multiple weeks of training in Erie, PA, which will prepare you for immediate success as a Liability Adjuster.
  • The Smart Start class of Liability Adjuster Trainees will consist of both classroom and hands-on training activities in the ERIE Technical Learning Center (in Erie, PA).
  • Trainees will be provided with field experiences and opportunities to learn about workflows within their branch office and apply what they have learned to claims that they handle alongside their mentors and supervisors.
  • This program gives interested individuals comprehensive training to successfully prepare them for the Liability Adjuster role. Additional program details, expectations, and timing will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Summary

Participates in formal ERIE claims training program. Learns and assists in claims handling operations and processes, using information and skills acquired in the training program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes assigned projects independently, using information and skills acquired in the training program, according to course objectives and timeline.
  • Shadows liability claims handlers during the investigation of claims and in handling other related claims functions as required.
  • Develops and demonstrates a working knowledge of Colossus applicable to the role.
  • Handles claim functions such as establishing reserves, taking statements, documenting activities, conducting investigations and adjudicating losses to their final disposition.
  • Interacts with Agents and district sales managers in assigned territory to become familiar with claims and underwriting issues.
  • Works with mentor and supervisor shadowing and taking ownership of clear understanding and expectations of the role.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Additional Experience

  • Successful candidate must commit to transitioning to the Liability Adjuster role, agree to role requirements, and successful completion of the training program, where 'successful' means receiving a rating of 'Succeeding' on the course-end performance appraisal.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Travel for training maybe required.

  • Additional skills, abilities and qualifications for the Liability Adjuster role:Obtain and maintain license as required by the state.
