Job summary

Lawrence Hall in Chicago seeks an LGBTQ Site Coordinator for the Avers Home Transitional Living Program to guide youth toward independent living with trauma-informed care.

You'll supervise a team, set a youth-guided environment, and collaborate across disciplines to support each resident's success, with on-site duties and travel between sites in the Chicago area.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in human services or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-degree supervisory experience.

About Lawrence Hall

Lawrence Hall is a Chicago-based nonprofit social services agency that provides therapeutic, wellness, and skill development services to youth, families, and neighborhoods affected by lasting trauma. We foster healing and growth through empowerment, respect, safety, and teamwork.

Avers Home is a Transitional Living Program (TLP) that provides queer youth ages 14-17 the support they need to transition into independent living after many have faced neglect or rejection from family members over their identities.

About the Role

Be a champion for safe, affirming care. As the LGBTQ Site Coordinator, you'll lead the Transitional Living Program at our Avers Home – the first foster care home for LGBTQ+ youth in the state of Illinois - helping them build independent living skills and access trauma-informed support. In this highly relational role, you'll supervise a team, set the tone for a youth-guided environment, and collaborate across disciplines to support each resident's success.

In this role, you will:

  • Supervise and mentor site staff and the LGBTQ Case Manager to create a trauma-informed, youth-centered space

Who we're looking for
Required:
  • Master's degree in a human services field
  • Minimum 3 years of post-degree supervisory experience
  • Experience working directly with LGBTQ+ youth as an ally or with lived experience
  • Valid Illinois driver's license, safe driving record, and access to a personal vehicle
  • Ability to pass all background and drug screenings
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel)

  • Must obtain Child Welfare Employee Licensure upon hire and complete required trainings (CERAP, CANS, and Teen Parenting Service Network)
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of trauma, youth development, and strength-based approaches
Work Schedule & Additional Information
  • This position is primarily located on-site at the Lakewood LGBTQ Site.
  • Requires travel between multiple sites using a personal vehicle.
  • Regular use of agency vehicles to transport youth; must maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Schedule includes a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend hours based on program needs. On-call availability required 24/7.
  • Physical demands include walking multiple flights of stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and long periods of mobility throughout multi-level sites during an 8-hour shift
  • Must obtain Child Welfare Employee Licensure upon hire or at next available Foundation training, including successful completion of CERAP and CANS.
  • Complete Teen Parenting Service Network Specialty Training within one year.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must complete and maintain TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) and physical intervention certification every 6 months
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $62,00 - $67,000/year, based on experience
