Job description

Overview

The Level II Technician performs all aspects of MHE planned and unplanned maintenance service on LP or electric equipment. The individual must be an expert in one of the two (LP or electrical) and be self‑sufficient on all repairs associated with this equipment. This position requires knowledge of mechanics, hand tools, and basic automotive experience. Must have computer experience, good communication skills, and good customer service skills. The position will report to a lead tech or manager level and support level 3 techs.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for forklift (LP and electrical) Preventative Maintenance services
    • Fluid change: engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear lube, and hydraulic fluid.
    • Filter replacements: air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, and ATF filter.
  • Perform tune‑ups – adjust valves and replace spark plugs and spark plug wires.
  • Brake/riser adjustments.
  • Inspect and repack wheel bearings.
  • Inspect and water forklift batteries on a defined schedule.
  • Battery removal, repairs, and installs.
  • Equipment paint touch‑ups as required.
  • Attachment pad rotations.
  • Part replacements as necessary – can include horns, lights, tires, etc.
  • Basic overheating troubleshooting and repair knowledge.
  • Perform steering troubleshooting and repair.
  • Meet a minimum of 30 completed PM services per month.
  • Keep a minimum of an 80‑90% productivity level.
Qualifications
  • Must have 1–2 years of experience with troubleshooting skills in electric equipment or LP equipment.
  • Experience in basic repairs of electric or LP equipment.
  • Experience in attachment repairs.
  • Basic electrical, LP, hydraulic system, and DVOM knowledge.
  • Basic wiring schematic reading experience.
  • Must be able to read and follow service manual instructions.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Computer applications using MS Office.
  • Post‑high school/technical school education not required, but desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction.
  • Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction.
  • Must be able to stand or lie down for extended periods of time to repair equipment.
  • Must be able to have flexible movement to reach equipment and/or parts and maneuver equipment.
  • Must be willing to travel at various times.
