Job summary

NFI, based in Texas, is seeking a Level II Technician to perform maintenance on LP and electric forklifts. You will troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment, adhering to manuals and safety standards while ensuring high productivity.

The role requires good communication, customer service, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Tools will be provided by you, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience with troubleshooting electric or LP equipment.
  • Experience in basic repairs of electric or LP equipment.
  • Experience in attachment repairs.
  • Basic electrical, LP, hydraulic systems, and DVOM knowledge.
  • Basic wiring schematic reading experience.
  • Must read and follow service manual instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on forklift (LP and electric).
  • Carry out tune-ups and replacements (spark plugs, wires, filters).
  • Do brake/riser adjustments and wheel bearing inspections.

Job description

Overview

Level II Technician performs all aspects of MHE planned and unplanned maintenance service on LP or electric equipment. Individual must be an expert in one of the two (LP or electrical) and self-sufficient on all repairs associated to this equipment.

This position requires knowledge of mechanics, hand tools, and basic automotive experience. Must have computer experience, good communication skills and good customer service skills. This position will report to a lead tech or manager level and support level 3 techs.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for forklift (LP and electrical) Preventative Maintenance services
    • Fluid change, engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear lube and hydraulic fluid.
    • Filter replacements, Air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and ATF filter.
  • Perform Tune Up’s- adjust valves and replace spark plug and spark plug wires.
  • Brake / riser adjustments
  • Inspect and repack wheel bearings
  • Inspect and water forklift batteries on a defined schedule
  • Battery removal, repairs, and installs
  • Equipment paint touch ups as required
  • Attachment pad rotations
  • Part replacements as necessary – can include horns, lights, tires, etc.
  • Basic overheating trouble shooting and repair knowledge.
  • Perform steering trouble shooting and repair
  • Meet a minimum of 30 Completed PM Services per month
  • Keep a minimum of a 80 - 90% productivity level
Qualifications
  • Must have a 1-2 years experience with trouble shooting skills with electric equipment or LP equipment
  • Experience in basic repairs of electric or LP equipment.
  • Experience in attachment repairs.
  • Basic electrical, LP, hydraulic system, and DVOM knowledge
  • Basic wiring schematic reading experience
  • Must be able to read and follow service manual instructions.
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Must provide own hand tools
  • Computer applications using MS Office
  • Post high school / technical school education not required, but desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction
  • Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to work in environment with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction
  • Must be able to stand or lie down for extended periods of time to repair equipment
  • Must be able to have flexible movement: to reach equipment and/or parts and maneuver equipment
  • Must be willing to travel at various times.
