Job summary

Xcel NDT, LLC, based in Kingsport, TN, seeks a Level II PAUT Technician to join our NDT team. You will set up PAUT equipment, conduct tests, interpret results, and document findings in accordance with relevant standards.

This role requires strong PAUT and NDT method knowledge with a focus on accuracy and safety. Responsibilities include training Assistants and Level I Technicians, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• NDT Level II PAUT certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Background check and drug screenings must be passed.
• NDT experience with PAUT methods and interpretation of results is essential.

Responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate PAUT and other NDT equipment.
• Conduct tests to detect discontinuities using approved NDT methods.
• Interpret readings from digital displays and other indicators.
• Document, organize, and report test results accurately.
• Provide training and supervision to Assistants and Level I Technicians.
• Perform additional tests and tasks as assigned by management.

Position: Level II PAUT Technician w/UTSWLocation: Kingsport, TNPosition OverviewThe Level II PAUT Technician will perform calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations to determine acceptance or rejection according to written instructions, applicable codes, standards, and specifications. This role requires the ability to set up and calibrate equipment, interpret and evaluate results, and maintain accurate records. Level II Technicians are expected to be fully knowledgeable about the methods they use, understand their scope and limitations, and provide on-the-job training and guidance to Assistants and Level I Technicians.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and calibrate PAUT and other nondestructive testing equipment.Conduct tests to ensure quality and detect discontinuities (defects) using approved NDT methods.Establish proper examination techniques, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.Apply inspection criteria per applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.Interpret readings from digital displays, radiographs, conductivity meters, or other indicators.Organize, document, and report test results accurately.Perform specialized inspections as required.Provide training and supervision to Assistants and Level I Technicians.Complete other job-related tasks as assigned by management.Education & ExperienceNDT Level II PAUT certification (required).Additional NDT Level II certifications in RT (with OJT and state card), MT, PT, and/or UTT preferred.Strong technical background in NDT methods and procedures.Proven ability to perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret inspection results.High school diploma or equivalent.RequirementsPass DISA background check.Pass all required drug screenings.Complete site-specific safety council training.Successfully test out in all required methods with XCEL.UTSW is a pre-requisite to PAUTDesired Competencies: Strong work ethic.
