Job description

Summary:

National Power, LLC is actively seeking a Level 4 DC Technician. Under the general direction of and reporting to the Broadband Service Manager, the Level 4 DC Installer will primarily focus on testing, inspection, and quality assurance of DC power equipment, including verification of circuits on working live power distribution, comprehensive testing procedures, and system evaluation. This role includes both testing of new installations and regular inspection of existing systems.

In addition, the individual in this role must possess the leadership skills to manage a team of installers through all phases of a DC power system installation and serve as the job site supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive testing and inspection of DC power systems and equipment.
2. Perform detailed quality assurance reviews of new installations and existing systems.
3. Execute testing procedures which verify product/applications compliance with industry standards.
4. Perform work operations on working equipment or circuits without direct supervision.
5. Conduct thorough testing of direct current (DC) Controller Software and verify proper configuration.
6. Oversee and verify DC Power transition work (cut-over on live equipment).
7. Perform detailed inspection of telecom battery installations.
8. Test and verify circuits on working power distribution sources.
9. Execute comprehensive equipment testing and system evaluation.
10. Supervise and inspect volatile work activities inside energized equipment.
11. Verify proper wiring connections and modifications on working equipment and circuits.
12. Inspect and test common systems equipment/hardware.
13. Perform thorough lead verification (voltage) testing.
14. Analyze job specifications and engineering drawings.
15. Identify and document any deviations from specifications or engineering drawings.
16. Prepare detailed inspection reports and required customer forms.
17. Maintain and update office record drawings based on field observations.
18. Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
19. Follow and enforce all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines.
20. Communicate with the Project Manager on all inspection and testing results.
21. Provide technical guidance and oversight to the inspection crew.

Eligibility requirement: Qualified candidates will possess the ability and willingness to do the following:

• Travel approximately 100%.
• Work different shifts (swing shifts).
• Lift at least 40 lbs.
• Use a lifting technique to maneuver, install or remove 80-750 lb. batteries.
• Push or pull cables up to 60 lbs.
• Climb ladders up to 8 ft.
• Work/stand on ladders for long periods of time.
• Stand continuously.
• Frequently reach above, below or at shoulder level.
• Frequently bend, twist or stoop.
• Frequently crouch or squat.
• Be exposed to central office/cable office environment with moderate noise levels and nominal variations in heat and cold.
• Work with computers that result in extensive exposure to Personal Computers (PC) and Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) screens.

Education/Experience/Skills:

• High School Diploma / GED.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in DC power equipment installation.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience adding or removing wiring and connections on non-equipment on DC power equipment or telecom batteries (skill sets for a Level III installer).

Compensation and Benefits:

• Competitive pay depending on previous experience and current certifications. Overtime is also a factor and is paid at 1.5 X base. We are a performance-based company and pay will ultimately reflect the employee’s productivity and overall performance.
