Job summary

Jobtailor in Kentucky is seeking a manufacturing supervisor to lead packaging and process lines, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The role requires coordinating start-ups and shutdowns, supervising staff, coaching teams, and driving continuous improvement within HACCP guidelines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up, shutdown, lockout, sanitation, and operation of packaging and/or process equipment.
  • Produce high-quality product meeting or exceeding cost and quality targets.
  • Monitor and maintain product quality, appearance, weight, packaging quality, code dates, and metal detector CCPs under HACCP programs.
  • Operate and monitor process and packaging equipment to maintain product flow.
  • Operate automated equipment including touchscreens, electronic sensors, controllers, actuators, photo eyes, and motors.
  • Supply, load, and unload machines.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
  • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sanitation tasks.
  • Make equipment changes, adjustments, and minor repairs.
  • Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and equipment breakdown repairs.
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance.
  • Coach others and reinforce work-area standards.
  • Identify employee training needs and train or coach others.
  • Deliver professional and positive feedback.
  • Ensure staffing at shift change and oversee production lines, sanitation, preventive maintenance, and changeovers against schedule.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform start-up, shutdown, lockout, sanitation, and operation of packaging and/or process equipment
  • Produce high-quality product meeting or exceeding cost and quality targets
  • Perform day-to-day plant activities in a team environment focused on safety and food safety
  • Monitor and maintain product quality, appearance, weight, packaging quality, code dates, and metal detector CCPs under HACCP programs
  • Operate and monitor process and packaging equipment to maintain product flow
  • Operate automated equipment including touchscreens, electronic sensors, controllers, actuators, photo eyes, and motors
  • Supply, load, and unload machines
  • Handle machine scrap and waste
  • Order raw and packaging materials
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas
  • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sanitation tasks
  • Make equipment changes, adjustments, and minor repairs
  • Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and equipment breakdown repairs
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance
  • Coach others and reinforce work-area standards
  • Identify employee training needs and train or coach others
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships
  • Obtain information, engage others, communicate, and specialize appropriately
  • Deliver professional and positive feedback
  • Ensure staffing at shift change and oversee production lines, sanitation, preventive maintenance, and changeovers against schedule
  • Schedule temporary employees and work with staffing agencies to fill daily staffing needs
  • Process beginning- and ending-shift paperwork with the other shift lead
  • Complete production paperwork accurately and work against the production schedule to achieve daily targets
  • Keep the supervisor informed of employee issues and concerns and recommend disciplinary actions
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 18 months experience in manufacturing environment; food industry preferred
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, SAP, and Smartsheet
  • Ability to prepare written communication
  • Ability to deliver verbal communications in team or group settings
  • Ability to lead a team to resolve problems and improve results
  • Ability to utilize basic lean tools to solve problems
  • Ability to recognize, locate, evaluate, and use company resources and information effectively
  • Ability to engage people across work boundaries to solve issues
  • Ability to communicate with the maintenance department and report mechanical issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and management
  • Must be able to perform in all manufacturing positions for coverage during employee absences
