Job summary

Strong Close Nursery School and Children's Centre in the UK is recruiting for a 2-5 year olds position within its inclusive provision. The successful candidate will act as a key person, liaise with families, and contribute to planning the EYFS curriculum.

An appropriate Level 3 childcare qualification and paediatric first aid are required, with safeguarding duties and a commitment to supporting vulnerable children. Term-time plus training days with 34 hours per week apply.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Experience with 2- to 5-year-olds.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key person for children and liaise with parent/carers.
  • Maintain children's records, observations and assessments.
  • Support learning through planning the curriculum for EYFS.
  • Work as part of a team to support children and families.
  • Create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Safeguard and promote welfare of children.

Band 6/7 SCP 6-7 (13.69 -16.08 per hour)

Strong Close Nursery School and Children's Centre

Band 6/7 SCP 7-17 (£13.69 - 16.08) per hour relevant to experience)

34 Hours per week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30am - 4pm and Wednesday 8.30am - 4.15pm (45 minutes lunch each day)

Term time only plus 4 training days

Starting 4 th January 2027

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing 2-5-year-old early years inclusive provision. At Strong Close Nursery School, we provide care and education for children, with a highly experienced staff team, as well as a designated Specialist Early Years Resourced Provision.

The right candidate will:

Have obtained the relevant Level 3 qualification in childcare and hold a paediatric first aid certificate in order to count in staff / child ratios (Training on First Aid can be provided where required and relevant)

Have an understanding of how to enable young children to learn, including those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities

Act as a key person for children, liaise with parent/carers and maintain children’s records, observations and assessments on our electronic system.

Be able to work as a member of a team to support children and their families

Have a strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and contribute to planning the curriculum

Have experience of working with children aged 2-5 years

Have an excitement and proactive, positive approach to supporting children’s learning and development

Provide and maintain stimulating learning environments for children both indoors and outdoors

Have a commitment to providing the right support to the most vulnerable children by contributing to support plans

Have substantial knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and how to plan for and extend children’s interests to enhance their learning.

Help and support the children ensuring their safety, and that they have every opportunity to take full advantage of the learning opportunities provided in the school/centre.

Ensure that their personal, social, physical, health and welfare needs are met.

Establish good relationships with the children and their families and act as a role model in responding to their needs in an appropriate manner.

Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children and their families

Help the children and their families to build good relationships and take advantage of the opportunities available in the school.

Help the children to develop independence and interdependence as appropriate.
