Job summary

Diversified CPC International – Channahon, IL is seeking a Level 1: Plant Operator. You will learn to handle, transfer, and store LPGs and other materials, troubleshoot and monitor continuous and batch processes, and manage tanks, railcars, and cylinders.

The role requires flexibility for extended hours, overtime, and rotating shifts, with focus on health, safety, environment and quality standards across the facility.

Qualifications

• Ability to bend, stoop, climb and maintain balance.
• Basic PC skills required.
• Able to be certified odor panelist.
• Good eye/hand coordination.
• Average hearing and vision required.
• Excellent math and reading skills needed; good communication.
• Good telephone communication skills needed.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds’ dead weight.

Responsibilities

• Reports directly to Production Manager.
• Is directed by Supervisor, when necessary.
• Monitors operation of the production facility and adjusts as necessary to maximize efficiency.
• Makes necessary calculations and measurements to meet demand.
• Maintains awareness of product, production, and process status.
• Fills out logs and forms and makes other documentation as required.
• Ensures that emissions are kept to a minimum.
• Connects and disconnects rail cars, truck trailers, and cylinders as necessary.
• Loads and unloads rail cars, truck trailers, and cylinders as necessary.
• Relocates truck trailers as required.
• Performs necessary tests and inspections to process receipts and shipments.
• Performs laboratory analysis of products: both received, in process, and shipped.
• Certifies product quality on shift.
• Reads instruments, gauges, level indicators, temperature indicators, etc., and logs same as necessary.
• Opens, closes, or adjusts valves to direct, redirect, stop or change flow, temperature, pressure, etc., of systems as needed.
• Performs minor maintenance procedures as required.
• Understands and follows plant operating procedures.
• Keeps work area neat, clean, orderly, and safe.
• Able to fill in for fractionation operator and/or maintenance duties as called upon when needed or when the production facility is not in operation.
• Able to work various shifts or rotating shifts, including weekends.
• And any other duties that may become necessary from time to time.

Diversified CPC International, Inc. has an immediate need for a Level 1: Plant Operator. We are an ISO 9000 Certified Company and we will train you to be a safe Chemical Process Operator.

You will learn how to handle, transfer, and store liquefied petroleum gases, refrigerants, and other materials in compliance with all state and Federal regulations. The Level 1: Plant Operator will troubleshoot, monitor, and control both continuous and batch processes and/or fractionation systems. The Level 1: Plant Operator will also connect, disconnect, load, unload, sample and manage storage tanks, trailer transports, railcars and cylinders. Responsibilities also include knowledge and commitment to standards regarding health, safety, environment and quality without exception. The Level 1: Plant Operator must be willing to work extended hours and overtime with short notice.
