Job summary

Reality Labs at Meta seeks an Optical Process & Manufacturing Engineer to own the development and production ramp of precision ophthalmic optics for AR glasses. You will lead supplier collaborations, qualify processes, and drive tooling and metrology programs to scale prototypes into high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science, polymer science, optical engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years in manufacturing and process development of precision optical components.
• Experience with metrology of optical components and material/mechanical characterization.
• Experience with mold design and mold flow analysis.
• Experience with precision tooling for optical-grade injection molding and high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own precision optical components from concept through prototype, validation, and high-volume production ramp.
• Lead external vendor and supply-chain collaborations for materials, tooling, metrology, and QC.
• Develop and qualify manufacturing processes and metrology for optical components.
• Define tooling and processes to establish new capability with partners.
• Drive mold design and mold flow to optimize tool geometry and process windows.
• Develop and qualify high-precision lens cutting processes at scale.
• Troubleshoot defects and run DOE for root cause analysis and improvement.
• Integrate novel materials and fabrication processes for next-gen optics and displays.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to set program priorities and deliver hardened sub-systems.

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Polymer Science/Optical Engineering
