Job description

Become a trusted advisor to the bankers, credit and treasury services officers in the GCB line of business, which sits within Global Banking (within the CIB) and supports US and international corporations, financial institutions, and public sector clients. Client industry specialties within GCB NA include technology, entertainment, energy, power, utilities and renewables, domestic banks, specialty finance, insurance, other financial institutions, healthcare, consumer/retail, and real estate.

About the Role

As an attorney in GCB, one of the only client-aligned legal teams supporting the CIB, you will support multiple industry segments. You will work with and leverage your legal knowledge to advise customer-facing bankers, credit, treasury services, controls, and other bank stakeholders on syndicated and bilateral lending transactions, deposit and cash management products, and regulatory and compliance issues. You will also provide advice on new developments and products in our industries and markets, their impact on GCB and its clients, and have opportunities to work on cross-line projects.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Support syndicated and bilateral loan transactions, including analysis, documentation review, negotiation, and advising risk teams.
  2. Advise the business on client-related issues, including reputational and AML concerns.
  3. Prepare and update standard forms, manage outside counsel relationships.
  4. Collaborate with risk, controls, compliance teams, and provide training.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of syndicated lending experience.
  • Strategic legal foresight for different business models.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, interact with senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with broad business strategies and issues.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, judgment, and character.

Salary Range

New York, NY: $199,500 - $275,000/year; Jersey City, NJ: $199,500 - $275,000/year; Chicago, IL: $183,350 - $242,000/year.
