The Office of the Code Reviser on the Washington State Capitol Campus is seeking a Session Office Assistant for the 2027 legislative session. This full-time, temporary role supports office operations with clerical tasks, bill requests, and client coordination.

The position emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and a professional demeanor, requiring overtime during the legislative session and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work mandatory overtime during the legislative session including weekends and holidays.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to store, retrieve, update, and delete documents in a computer filing system.
• Ability to use multiple software apps to perform various computer tasks.
• Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• The ability to answer phones and cover co-worker desks while they are away.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and take in their bill requests or refer the client to talk with an available Code Reviser.
• Contact clients via e-mail or telephone when bill drafts are ready.
• Maintain/update the Bill Request Tracking System file (BRTS) signature cards.
• Produce and file log cards.
• Distribute bill drafts to clients from the front desk.
• Answer the main office line and assist clients over the telephone.
