Job summary

Ameren Missouri is seeking a Legislative Representative who will build and sustain favorable relationships with stakeholders and legislative bodies to support Ameren’s policy positions. You will work with the State Government Relations team and external lobbyists to shape messaging, coordinate coalitions, and monitor daily legislative progress.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant lobbying or communications experience, with preference for utility industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Government or similar is preferred.
• Specialization in Political Science or Business Administration is preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant lobbying, communications or similar experience required.
• Experience with utility industry or power marketing is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and negotiate difficult issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain relationships with stakeholder representatives and corporate lobbyists to develop coalitions supporting Ameren’s positions on policy issues.
• Collaborate with the Manager of State Government Relations and lobbyists to implement strategy.
• Be proactive and reactive with legislation and amendments.
• Coordinate with company experts to communicate the company position to legislators and stakeholders.
• Track progress of legislation and hearings daily and share updates with audiences.
• Present policy issues and strategy to senior leadership.
• Represent Ameren Missouri at community outreach and stakeholder events.
• Engage stakeholder groups and leverage relationships to align them with the company’s positions.
