The Prince George’s County Council is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Legislative Attorney (Administrative Specialist 1G, Ggrade 29) position in the County Council Legislative Officers Division. This is a direct hire position being advertised to attract qualified candidates.
The incumbent receives and evaluates requests for legislative drafting submitted by Council Members, Legislative Aides, the Council Administrator, the Deputy Council Administrator, and other County offices and prepares such requests in proper bill format using legally effective language and ensuring consistency with codification standards. The incumbent also reviews bills, resolutions, and Committee amendments for format and legislative adequacy, independently and/or in conjunction with other legal staff or legislative officers.
All legislative powers of the County are vested in the County Council. In addition, the County Council sits as the District Council on zoning and land use matters, and as the Board of Health on health policy matters.
