The Office of Congresswoman Maxine Dexter (OR-03) seeks an experienced Legislative Assistant to lead a portfolio focused on advancing her legislative priorities supporting working families (labor, education, transportation, tax, judiciary, and other issues as assigned) in her Washington,D.C. office. This role works closely with the Member, Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and district team to advance, and implement her agenda of empowering economic security for families, ensuring stability for communities, and leveling the playing field to protect freedom and opportunity for all. The salary range is $65,000-$80,000 and iscommensuratewith experience and qualifications.This is not an entry-level position.
Responsibilities include drafting legislation and shaping legislative strategy; conducting research and analyzing policy; managing relationships with key stakeholders and advocates; tracking relevant policy developments; preparing committee materials, policy memos, briefings, talking points, and remarks; representing the Congresswoman in meetings with constituents, organizations, and federal agencies; coordinating with communications staff on messaging related to policy priorities; and supporting cross-team collaboration between the D.C. and district offices.
Successful candidates willdemonstratea strong commitment to public service and a deep interest in social policy. Candidates should have excellent legislative drafting and analytical skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; and strong research, writing, and communication skills.
