Job summary

Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC seeks a highly analytical Financial Analyst to join the Finance team. You will partner with attorneys, practice groups, firm leadership, Marketing, and Finance to develop pricing strategies, evaluate alternative fee arrangements, assess profitability, and provide data-driven insights that support client value and firm growth.

This role requires strong financial modeling, reporting, and communication skills, with advanced Excel and Power BI experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in legal pricing, FP&A, or a related financial-analysis role.
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with attorneys to develop pricing strategies and innovative fee arrangements that support client needs and firm profitability.
• Create detailed matter budgets and financial models for hourly and alternative fee arrangements, including fixed fees and blended rates.
• Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate staffing mix, leverage, realization, margin, and profitability.
• Perform profitability and contribution-margin analyses at the matter, client, practice, and firm levels.
• Support pricing and budgeting components of RFP responses and client fee negotiations.
• Prepare and communicate monthly financial reports, including attorney productivity and KPIs.
• Develop ad hoc analyses, reports, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
• Use BI and data visualization tools to identify trends and translate data into actionable recommendations.
• Train attorneys on pricing best practices and matter-management techniques.
