Job summary

Arnold & Porter, a leading international law firm, seeks a highly analytical Financial Analyst to partner with attorneys and leadership in pricing strategies and profitability assessments.

You will build matter budgets, models for hourly and alternative fee arrangements, and conduct scenario analyses to optimize staffing and margins. Strong Excel, BI, and communication skills are essential for delivering data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in legal pricing, FP&A, or related financial-analysis role.
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with pivot tables, formulas and dynamic modeling.
• Experience with BI/reporting and data visualization tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with attorneys to develop pricing strategies and innovative fee arrangements.
• Create detailed matter budgets and financial models for hourly and alternative fee arrangements.
• Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate staffing mix, leverage, and profitability.
• Perform profitability and contribution-margin analyses at multiple levels.
• Support pricing and budgeting components of RFP responses and client negotiations.
• Prepare and communicate monthly financial reports with KPIs and analyses.
• Develop ad hoc analyses and presentations for senior management.
• Use BI tools to identify trends and translate data into actionable insights.
• Train attorneys on pricing practices and BI tools.
• Collaborate with Marketing on client budgets and rate structures.
