Job summary

The City of St. George's Legal Department seeks a part-time Legal Intern to provide administrative support, legal research and writing assistance to attorneys in the City Attorney’s Office.

You will gain exposure to civil and criminal law and may draft memoranda, review ordinances, attend meetings, and assist prosecutors and staff under supervision. Eligible candidates are high school seniors currently enrolled in college or law school, in good standing, and able to maintain a Utah driver’s

Qualifications

• High school senior; pursuing college or law school, in good standing.
• Must have no terminations for cause and strong work ethic.
• Must possess a valid Utah driver’s license throughout the internship.

Responsibilities

• Drafts responses to motions by reading motions, researching case laws, contacting agencies.
• Draft appeals and responses by reviewing documents and researching files.
• Interview clients and witnesses, provide translation or interpretation as needed.
• Drafts legal memoranda and maintains case records for accuracy.
• Assist in department operations and research for special projects.
• Performs other related duties as required.
