Job summary

GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD Law) seeks a Legal Director to lead its litigation, legislation, and advocacy work. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving on the Senior Management Team, the Legal Director will shape strategy for the organization’s nationally renowned legal department.

The role requires 8+ years of civil rights or nonprofit litigation experience and a deep understanding of impact litigation, policy, and public education strategies to advance LGBTQ+ rights.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of litigation experience in LGBTQ+ civil rights or nonprofit organizations.
• Experience leveraging impact litigation, policy, and public education to advance rights.
• Understanding of intersecting identities within LGBTQ+ communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead litigation, legislation and advocacy efforts to advance GLAD Law's mission.
• Provide strategic direction to the legal department and staff.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Senior Management Team.
• Shape organizational and legal strategy to advance LGBTQ+ rights at a pivotal moment.
