About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel with a focus on Real Estate matters to join their team in Paarl . This role will involve providing expert legal advice and support on a wide range of property-related transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, development, and financing. You will work closely with the property development and investment teams, ensuring all real estate activities are legally sound, compliant with local property laws, and strategically aligned with the company's growth objectives, playing a key part in the successful execution of the company's property portfolio strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate commercial leases, purchase agreements, and other real estate contracts.
• Advise on property acquisitions and disposals, including conducting due diligence on title, zoning, and environmental matters.
• Manage property development projects from a legal perspective, including compliance with building regulations and permits.
• Provide legal support for real estate financing transactions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable South African property laws and regulations.
• Liaise with external legal counsel, government authorities, and other stakeholders involved in property transactions.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in property law.
• Proven expertise in commercial real estate transactions, leasing, and development.
• Strong understanding of South African property law, conveyancing, and related legislation.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage complex transactions and meet tight deadlines.
