Placements24 is seeking a competent Legal Counsel specializing in Property and Commercial law, based in Upington, Northern Cape. You will oversee legal aspects of the company’s property portfolio and broader commercial operations, advising on transactions, leases, and compliance.

The role requires admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 3–5 years PQE, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court with 3–5 years post-qualification experience focused on property and commercial law.
• Experience in property transactions, lease negotiations, and drafting commercial contracts.
• Sound knowledge of South African property and contract law and related commercial principles.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills; strong communication and teamwork in hybrid settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on property-related matters, including acquisitions, disposals, leases, and development projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate leases, service agreements, and other contracts.
• Manage the lease portfolio and ensure compliance with terms and landlord/tenant obligations.
• Advise on land use rights, zoning regulations, and property-specific legal issues.
• Support commercial transactions, including due diligence, negotiation, and closing processes.
• Assist in resolving property and commercial disputes with internal teams and external counsel.
• Ensure compliance with property and commercial legislation in South Africa.

About the Role

Our client, a significant entity within the (Industry Name - e.g., Retail, Hospitality, Development) sector, is seeking a competent and organized Legal Counsel with expertise in Property and Commercial law. Based in Upington, Northern Cape , this role will oversee the legal aspects of the company's property portfolio and its broader commercial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of property law, lease agreements, commercial contracts, and dispute resolution.
