Job summary

Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) in Louisville, KY seeks an experienced AOC Legal Counsel (Non-Tenured) to provide legal services to the Director, management, staff, and elected officials as needed. The role supports juvenile justice, criminal justice, and family law issues statewide.

You will conduct research, draft memoranda, review legislation, contracts, and open records requests; advise on litigation and policy matters; and participate in trainings and presentations as required.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed attorney with at least 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work under the guidance of Senior Legal Counsel or Division Manager.
• Conduct detailed research and analysis and prepare legal memoranda and advisory opinions.
• Review contracts, MOUs, and various court forms and publications.
• Advise on legislation affecting court services and programs.
• Assist with responses to open records requests and litigation matters.
• Represent the office on committees and provide trainings on legal subjects.

Education

Advanced Law Degree (JD) from an accredited law school
