Job summary

Merrimack College seeks an experienced Assistant General Counsel and Director of Compliance to provide legal counsel and leadership on compliance with federal and state laws and policies. The position reports to the Vice President and General Counsel and supports a broad range of matters affecting academic, administrative, employment and student operations.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice in Massachusetts or eligible for admission.
Minimum five years of progressively responsible legal experience.
Experience providing legal advice on complex organizational, regulatory, contractual, employment or compliance matters.
Strong knowledge of higher education law, governance and compliance.
Excellent written and verbal communication with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel to Merrimack College and senior leadership on a broad range of matters.
Conduct legal research, analysis and draft memoranda, guidance and policies.
Review and negotiate contracts and vendor agreements.
Develop, implement and oversee the College's institutional compliance program.
