Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to the Michigan bar.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive legal experience with at least 10 in employment and labor law.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; proven leadership in a complex academic environment.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, governance, contracts, and policy development; familiarity with legal technology and AI in practice.

Responsibilities

• Serve as chief legal strategist and senior advisor to MCC President and cabinet.
• Lead institution-wide compliance efforts, governance, and policy development.
• Manage legal risk, oversee litigation and contract matters, and supervise paralegal/administrative staff.
• Leverage LegalTech tools and data analytics to support strategic decisions.
