The Legal Content Manager is responsible for ensuring that the legal information in ILAO’s content management system is legally accurate and up-to-date. They also coordinate our team of hundreds of Legal Content Volunteers (LCVs) and subject matter experts who are an integral part of ensuring our legal information is accurate and usable by lower-income Illinoisians. They stay abreast of legal trends and issues facing lower-income families and communities in Illinois and help come up with new ways of helping increase access to justice using technology.

ILAO is fully remote, with periodic, in-person meetings. We welcome applications from across Illinois.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Produce & publish content 50%
2. Monitor law changes and other legal developments to ensure ILAO content is up-to-date
3. Ensure that content production milestones for new products are met on time
4. Monitor resources outside of ILAO's library and determine how to incorporate them into ILAO's products
5. Collaborate on new ways of packaging and delivering legal information
6. Understand legal aid and pro bono attorneys' needs and support them with meaningful tools and resources
7. Create various content types including flowcharts, infographics, videos, and eLearning modules
8. Serve on the Illinois Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission’s Forms Subcommittees for form design and plain language

Supervise content producers/reviewers 25%

1. Lead, recruit, and manage the Legal Content Volunteer (LCV) Program
2. Coordinate events and programs for LCVs
3. Establish metrics and reports for the LCV program
4. Support, acknowledge, and appreciate LCVs
5. Assist with legal subject matter expertise as needed
6. Network within the legal community to promote and support ILAO’s mission

Content evaluation and feedback management 15%

1. Collect, analyze, and share data with staff and partners
2. Follow content quality standards
3. Improve quality assurance and prioritization processes
4. Work with User Research Manager on content-related user feedback

Other activities 10%

1. Participate in meetings and organizational activities
2. Engage in ARDEI activities
3. Participate in fundraising activities and other assigned tasks

Education/Experience

• J.D. and Illinois bar admission required
• At least two years of legal experience
• Experience simplifying complex legal concepts
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in writing/editing with attention to detail
• Experience managing volunteers

Preference given to candidates with:

• Connections to Illinois legal aid community
• Experience in Illinois legal aid organizations
• Experience in criminal law, immigration, education, employment, or public benefits
• Experience with Salesforce or similar platforms
• Experience with content management systems
• Experience with Jira, Slack, GSuite, or Microsoft Office
