OnePay in New York City seeks a Legal & Compliance Intern to support contracts, regulatory research, policy development, and compliance reviews across active initiatives focusing on financial services regulation, data privacy, AI, and marketing compliance.

You will join a fast-moving fintech and gain hands-on exposure to legal risk management while collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentors. This paid internship runs June 21–Aug 13, 2027, in NYC.

Qualifications

• Must be currently in law school with interest in financial services, regulatory, data privacy, AI, or marketing and advertising law.
• Coursework or exposure in financial services regulation, data privacy law, AI regulation, or advertising/marketing law.
• Prior internship or clerkship experience or related projects.
• Availability for full-time, 8-week program June 21–August 13, 2027 in NYC.
• Proactive and collaborative attitude with strong communication.
• Strong thinking and problem-solving ability; organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Team Integration: work with Legal & Compliance, Product, Risk, Privacy, Marketing, and Business partners in meetings and reviews.
• Real-World Projects: assist with contract drafting/review, regulatory research, policy updates (privacy notices, AI governance), and cross-functional data privacy assessments.
• Skill Building & Career Growth: participate in workshops on technical skills, resume building, interview prep, and professional development, with mentorship from leadership.
• Mentorship: guidance from manager and a dedicated mentor to support learning and growth.

The Role

As a Legal & Compliance Intern at OnePay, you’ll work alongside the Legal & Compliance team to support contracts, regulatory research, policy development, and compliance reviews across active initiatives, with a particular focus on the cross-section between financial services regulation, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and marketing compliance. You’ll gain hands‑on exposure to how a fast‑moving fintech manages legal risk and compliance obligations.

• Team Integration: You’ll be paired with Legal & Compliance team members and work alongside Product, Risk, Privacy, Marketing, and Business partners, sitting in on contract reviews, compliance meetings, privacy reviews, and policy discussions.
• Real‑World Projects: You’ll support contract drafting and review, conduct regulatory research, help develop and update policies (including privacy notices and AI governance frameworks), and assist with compliance reviews and cross‑functional projects, including data privacy assessments (e.g., CCPA/CPRA,, AI and machine‑learning governance reviews, and marketing and advertising compliance reviews (e.g., TCPA, CAN‑SPAM, UDAAP, claims substantiation).
• Skill Building & Career Growth: Throughout the internship, you’ll attend workshops focused on technical skills, resume building, interview prep, and professional development. You’ll also have the chance to engage with company leadership during networking events.
• Mentorship: Receive guidance and feedback from your manager, as well as a dedicated mentor who will help you navigate your internship experience, ensuring continuous learning and growth.

You Bring

• You are currently in Law School: You’re a current law student, with an interest in financial services, regulatory, data privacy, artificial intelligence, or marketing and advertising law.
• Relevant Coursework or Exposure: You have coursework, clinic, or project experience touching financial services regulation, data privacy law, AI or emerging‑technology regulation, or advertising and marketing law, and enjoy translating fast‑moving legal and regulatory developments into practical guidance.
• Prior Experience: You’ve completed at least one previous internship or clerkship, or have built substantial personal or academic projects you’re excited to talk through.
• Availability: This is a full‑time, 8‑week program running June 21 - August 13, 2027. You are available to work in our New York City office at least 3‑4 days a week throughout the entire program.
• Proactive & Collaborative Attitude: You have an act‑like‑an‑owner mentality, thrive in a fast‑moving environment, and enjoy working with others to achieve collective goals.
• Critical Thinking & Problem‑Solving Skills: You enjoy tackling complex challenges, analyzing problems, and developing solutions. Clear communication of ideas is one of your strengths.

Program & Application Timeline

• Program runs June 21 - August 13, 2027 (8 weeks, full‑time, in our NYC office)
• We review applications and conduct interviews on a rolling basis as they come in
• No offer decisions will be made until the application window closes – all candidates are evaluated together before final decisions go out
• We are targeting a finalized cohort by December 1, 2026
• If there are intern spots still available, we may reopen applications in Spring 2027
