Qualifications

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, proofread, and organize correspondence and documents.
  • Assist with transaction matters by tracking deadlines and assembling closing materials.
  • Coordinate meetings and calls with clients, attorneys, and public officials.
  • Maintain matter files, calendars, and contact lists with accuracy.
  • Support attorneys with research, filings, and materials on legislative and regulatory matters.
  • Enter attorney time, prepare expense reports, and provide administrative support.

We are partnering with an established law firm in Columbia, South Carolina, seeking a full-time, onsite Legal Assistant to join their dynamic Governmental Affairs department.

In this multifaceted role, you will play a crucial part in supporting attorneys with legislative, regulatory, and transactional matters. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where precision, organization, and strong communication skills drive success, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Document Preparation: Prepare, format, proofread, and organize correspondence, agreements, presentations, and other vital documents.
  • Transaction Support: Assist with transaction matters by maintaining checklists, tracking strict deadlines and deliverables, coordinating signatures, and assembling closing materials.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate meetings and calls seamlessly with clients, attorneys, public officials, and other key stakeholders.
  • File & Calendar Management: Maintain matter files, calendars, contact lists, and Legal Assistant – Governmental Affairs document records with meticulous accuracy.
  • Legislative & Regulatory Assistance: Support attorneys with research, filings, and materials related to legislative, regulatory, and governmental matters.
  • Administrative Operations: Enter attorney time, prepare expense reports, and provide comprehensive administrative support to keep matters on schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a comparable professional support role. Background supporting transactions, contracts, real estate, or corporate matters is preferred!
  • Technical Proficiency: High proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Skills: Strong proofreading, document management, and organizational abilities. Proven capability to manage competing deadlines, anticipate next steps, and handle confidential information with strict discretion.
  • Communication: Clear, professional communication skills coupled with a collaborative approach to working with attorneys and clients.
