Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to deliver advanced legal and administrative support for a team of 10–15 attorneys. The role emphasizes white-glove service, high attention to detail, and mentoring junior staff.

Ideal candidates will have strong state and federal e-filing experience, PACER proficiency, and expert Word formatting skills. This full-time position requires superb organization, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Qualifications

  • 4–5+ years of legal support experience.
  • Associate's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Strong state and federal e-filing experience.
  • Proficiency with PACER.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word formatting.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Intapp, NetDocuments, Litera, or other law firm-specific systems is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, format, and proofread legal documents, memoranda, correspondence, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Draft simple notices and correspondence from draft or dictated text.
  • Generate pleadings and briefs using advanced Microsoft Word features, including Tables of Contents, Tables of Authorities, cross-referencing, and Track Changes.
  • Perform state and federal electronic filing and transmit legal documents to courts, clients, witnesses, and other parties.
  • Utilize PACER for federal court research and filing-related activities.
  • Convert PDF documents to Word format and clean up, edit, and properly format converted documents.
  • Manage attorney calendars, critical deadlines, and dates requiring action while ensuring accurate calculations.
  • Maintain attorney Bar and Court Admissions.
  • Track attorney Continuing Legal Education requirements.
  • Create and edit spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, graphs, and charts.
  • Assist with client financial records, accountings, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage workflow and prioritize incoming assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and other external contacts.
  • Provide team coverage and PTO backup for other legal support team members.
  • Provide backup support for reception as needed.
  • Mentor and train junior legal support employees.
  • Coordinate with other support services to ensure assignments and projects are completed accurately and on time.
  • Perform other advanced legal and administrative support duties as assigned.

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide advanced legal and administrative support to attorneys. The Legal Assistant will support approximately 10–15 attorneys and work closely with attorneys, the Office Manager, and other members of the legal support team.

This position is ideal for a highly polished and professional legal support professional who enjoys providing white-glove service and is looking to build a long-term career in a legal support capacity.

The successful candidate will bring strong state and federal e-filing experience, PACER proficiency, advanced legal document formatting and proofreading skills, excellent organization, and strong judgment. The role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities and deadlines while remaining composed, tactful, and detail-oriented.

Our client provides in-house training to help employees develop the specific skills needed for success in the role. The Legal Assistant may also mentor and train more junior support team members.

Key Responsibilities
